Commemorative 50th Year Vorgee swim cap
Working with our national sponsor Vorgee, MSA’s free 50th year commemorative gift has been or will be distributed to each member via your Club. It was also a very popular gold headwear item at the recent National Champs (thanks to Maggie Georgopoulos and Kirsty Effiong for assisting MSA on distribution of caps to Clubs in attendance at the Nationals!). The National Office will be posting out the remaining Club caps over the coming weeks.
50 x just one more
A big shout out nationwide to the some 200 wonderful Clubs as you continue to undertake your excellent recruitment efforts for the year of 2025, and this year is even more special as its MSA’s 50th year of masters swimming! To give some extra edge and oomph to your Club membership goals, MSA would like to set your Club a “new” Members acquisition challenge. It goes like this:
-
- Can your Club find 50 new members across the course of year 2025?
OR - Can your Club increase membership by a total of 50% over and above your 2024 membership number?
- It’s a lofty challenge to strive for but remember it takes ‘Just One More’ member to start the momentum. Accordingly, MSA will be recognising and rewarding those Clubs that hit the mark – more details to come. Meanwhile, keep the foot on the recruitment peddle in bringing new and returning Members to your Club and the masters swimming family in our special 50th year…Swimming for Life!
- Can your Club find 50 new members across the course of year 2025?
50th Year Swim Meet
On the 8th of March 1975, the first ever Masters National Championship meet was held at the old Harbord Diggers Pool. To recognise this, MSNSW conducted a special 50th Anniversary celebration swim meet at the Sydney Academy of Sport / Narrabeen Swim Academy Pool at Narrabeen, Sydney, on Saturday 8 March 2025. Billed as the Aquatic Revival ’75 meet, 54 keen and nostalgic entrants swam a short course program that reflected the exact line up of races from the inaugural 1975 meet, along with a post event afternoon tea and awards function.
Following the lead of MSNSW, throughout year 2025 MSA encourages your Club/s to schedule a 50th Anniversary Swim Meet too. It could be held in any format, from a multi-Club Meet through to more simply a solid session of internal Club Races. The timing throughout 2025 is completely up to you…just let MSA know so we can put in the MSA calendar and please also share the good news and info on the MSA communications platforms. We’d also encourage you to then share the meet frivolity via MSA social media, too. channels.
For Clubs who have already held meets in the first half of 2025 we invite you to retrospectively celebrate with us – send in the event details and we can add you! to the list! Each Club that holds and/or participates in a 50th Anniversary Swim Meet/Club Races will be issued a commemorative MSA certificate in recognition of your commitment and efforts.
50 Year Members – MSA President Jane Noake announced at the Presentation Dinner at the recent National Championships hosted by MSV that MSA will be recognising those members that have been with MSA for between 40 to 50 years duration. Please standby while MSA checks central records and we will also seek your help to ensure we catch everyone. We’ll also then in future move to annually recognising those who have been with us for 25 years or more.
