New MSA General Manager
After an extensive recruitment process, the President and Board of Masters Swimming Australia (MSA) are pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Abernethy to the role of General Manager.
Rob brings to the role a vast domestic and international background in Sports Administration, Venue and Major Sports Event/Competition Management experiences across various State, National and International Sports Federations. His excellent managerial, commercial, operations and communication skills have been honed at projects with the Australian Olympic Committee, various Olympic (including the Sydney 2000 and London 2012 Aquatic Centres) and Commonwealth Games deliveries, the Singapore Sports Hub, a FIFA Women’s World Cup and three Rugby World Cups, amongst others.
These attributes will assist with embedding the new MSA governance model and in developing opportunities to grow MSA, as well as ensure effective administration and support to the States and Members.
As a former elite swimmer, Australian National Team Member (#408) and Team Captain, and international medallist, this role also brings Rob back into the swimming community, with insights and connections that will serve MSA well.
Rob will commence on Monday 14th October, be based in NSW and we look forward to welcoming him to the Organisation.
