2025 Technical Official of the Year

The Technical Official of the Year Award recognises the significant and lasting impact that Technical Officials make on masters swimming at all levels of the sport. It acknowledges individuals whose dedication, professionalism, and commitment enhance the quality, integrity, and enjoyment of competition for athletes, coaches, and the broader swimming community. The National Technical Committee assesses a Technical Official’s innovative and best‑practice officiating approaches, their leadership and mentorship of other officials, and their willingness to continually develop their own skills and knowledge.

Congratulations to Paul Carter, Darwin Stingers, Northern Territory, on being named MSA’s 2025 Technical Official of the Year.

Paul is the Technical Director of Masters Swimming NT and a member of the MSA National Technical Committee and in these roles, Paul actively promotes officiating and encourages members to pursue accreditation and broaden their technical skills. Paul has volunteered at several National Championships including the 2023 Nationals in Hobart, 2024 Nationals in Darwin, 2025 Nationals in Melbourne and will be on pool deck this week at the 2026 Nationals here in beautiful Brisbane. In 2025 Paul was appointed also to the World Aquatics World Masters Championships in Singapore as a Technical Official. Masters Swimming Australia greatly values Paul’s dedication, expertise, and professionalism, which continue to strengthen the development and quality of technical officiating in the Northern Territory.
